Another important step is taken: Hanniball will be the official mascot of the 23rd IHF Women`s World Championship in Germany (1 to 17 December). The new tournament mascot was presented on Tuesday during the draw of the preliminary groups in Hamburg.
„Every handball fan in Germany knows Hanniball, especially the children really love him“, says Mark Schober, Secretary General of the German Handball Federation. „He is one of the main reasons for an outstanding atmosphere and lots of radiant faces at every international game of the German teams.“
Hanniball is the official mascot of the German Handball Federation for more than ten years and therefore part of every home game of the „Ladies“ and „Bad Boys“. In 2007, when the last World Championship took place in Germany, Hanniball was also the official tournament mascot. Back then, the German men`s national team won the gold medal in front of the home crowd.
„The chemistry between Hanniball and the fans was great already ten years ago. That is why we are really looking forward to the handball festivals, which Hanniball will celebrate in December with handball fans from all over the world in the arenas“, says Schober.
